No catch! This is a New York State Program and our mission is to make the benefits of solar power available to everyone.  There are no fees to join or cancel, no change in how you get your electricity, and no contract or rate surprises—if you don’t like the service, you can cancel at any time. How does it save me money? Your share of the solar farm earns you energy credits when it generates power, which will automatically be applied to your monthly electric bill. For example, if your average monthly bill is $100 a month, your solar farm discount is 20% off that $100. You will now pay only $80 for your $100 worth of solar credits. Am I eligible for HamilSun community solar? Yes! As long as NYSEG is your electric utility, and you receive a utility bill in your name, you can enroll! How does this work if it doesn't cost anything extra? The cost of a solar array has come down significantly over time, to the point where capturing the sun’s energy with solar panels is less expensive than many other ways of generating electricity. This allows the solar farm owner to recover their cost of building the array while passing along a portion of the savings to subscribers in the project. This is 100% local energy right here in Clinton county and supports local green jobs. More questions?
